“A Truly Autonomous AGV System for Free Path Navigation is Essential to AL Industry”

Presenter: Maarten Meijer, Sales Manager, GLAMA Maschinenbau GmbH

Several AGV solutions have been introduced to the AL market already that all have in common that the path description is rather fixed. In order to become a truly industry 4.0 solution our new transporting methods should be as flexible and interactive as todays solutions. In this short presentation we will demonstrate the behavior of such a solution and discuss the future advantages of knowing precisely the time it took to complete a process and bring materials to it.

“How Metals Companies are using Digital Technology to Navigate Today’s Turbulent Waters”

Presenter: Thomas Higgott, Digital Supply Chain Solution Engineer, SAP SE

The global metals business today is increasingly volatile and unpredictable with frequent changes in tariffs, prices, transportation costs, competitive pressures and more. Companies are turning to digital technology and integrated information to gain cross company visibility to produce safely and profitably, collaborate with their supply chains and deliver differentiated products and services. Hear how a platform approach helps companies collaborate across all areas of the business and learn about industry cases.

“AI in Aluminum Production: How to Adopt the Technologies?”

Presenter: Alexander Khaytin, CEO, Mechanica AI

While overall applicability of the AI technologies for metal production is no longer doubted, many companies are still unable to leverage them successfully. Challenges appear at all stages of the process - from defining the initial use case to putting a developed model for actual production use. This last aspect is often underestimated: even a highly accurate predictive system still has to be successfully integrated in the existing business process and decision-making approaches. Optimal solution design, managerial and organizational aspects are highly important to actually derive value from the technology. Based on successful experience of deploying AI for production optimization in aluminum companies, Mr. Khaytin will explain how to approach this question and ensure successful adoption of AI across the enterprise.
