Aluminium Stewardship Initiative

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is a standards setting and certification organization that recognizes and fosters the responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. As a member-based, global initiative, ASI is the result of producers, users and stakeholders in the aluminium value chain coming together to build consensus on 'responsible aluminium'. ASI is developing an independent third party certification program to ensure sustainability and human rights principles are increasingly embedded in aluminium production, use and recycling. In doing so, we continue to seek engagement with commercial entities and stakeholders in the aluminium value chain from across the world.

International Aluminum Institute (World Aluminum)

Current IAI membership represents over 60% of global bauxite, alumina and aluminium production. Since its foundation in 1972 (as the International Primary Aluminium Institute), the members of the IAI  have been companies engaged in the production of bauxite, alumina, aluminium, the recycling of aluminium, or fabrication of aluminium or as joint venture partners in such.  While the Institute works closely with the national and regional aluminium associations, with which it shares many members, the associations themselves are not members of the IAI.
