Join Ford’s George Luckey, as he details aluminum’s implementation in Ford’s F Series Truck Program and offers a high-level technical overview of its engineering processes.  He’ll discuss material sourcing and use, the supply base, and how materials arrive at the plant and modifications necessary in stamping when using aluminum.

He’ll look at the myriad of options available and how Ford’s customers use them and future derivatives in truck program. George will discuss material selection and choices of alloys as well as the engineering details surrounding performance issues, and the manufacturing technologies applied to deliver weight reduction.

He’ll end the session with a discussion on recyclability strategies and explain Ford’s commitment to - and methods of managing - the recycling stream as it partners with suppliers throughout the supply chain.

With George’s deep background in heat treatment of stamped and hydro formed aluminum panels and extruded tubes, lubricant strategy for aluminum sheet stamping and his research around warm forming of aluminum and magnesium sheet, you’ll leave with a deep understanding of the benefits of aluminum in transportation - and its crossover for other industries.
